THM at Eurobike (Friedrichshafen)
THM will be on the German-Carbon-Group exhibition stand from September the 4th to September the 7th in the A2-205 hall. Beside many small innovations on our products is a world premiere to see. An innovative Scapula implementation with integrated V-brakes will highlight. Super brake power in combination with a perfect aerodynamic and lightweight! First pictures soon on this page. We look forward to see you.

THM forks unbeaten
THM-forks again ahead of the competition in the large carbon frame test in Europe’s largest cycling publication, ‘tour’ magazine. The graph shows the lateral stiffness-to-weight ratios of all 1 1/8” forks compared. Due to its unconventional geometry, the Storck Stiletto (developed and manufactured by THM) again comes in as number one.
By the way: Even compared to larger diameter head tubes, as can be found on Canyon and Cannondale bikes, THM forks remain superior. And at 59 N/mm our Scapula is the fork with the highest lateral stiffness.

March 2008
Clavicula dp now available with 30-tooth option!
Clavicula dp, our MTB double version, can now be ridden with a 30-tooth small chanring. Extralite offers a special chainring making this possible. Starting now, all Clavicula dp will be prepared to accept this extra-small ring. Owners of earlier versions of the Clavicula dp can contact us to find out about a small DIY change.

Clavicula now with optional hybrid-ceramics bearings
As announced at the 2007 Eurobike show, Clavicula cranks are now available with hybrid-ceramics bottom brackets.
We are using ceramics ball bearings with a specially formulated grease and seal. The main advantage lies in longevity and reduced maintenance more so than ultra-low resistance. Due to the specific properties of steel and ceramics this combination is not suitable for high-impact loads. Thus we will only be offering this bottom bracket for our road cranks.

Clavicula FreeRide passes all tests
Clavicula’s FreeRide version has mastered all tests with flying colors. Its geometry is identical to the regular triple MTB crank, but it comes with a beefed up spindle and steel inserts for the pedals to withstand hard impacts.
February 2008
Scapula: Up to 40 mm of spacers possible
Scapula is stronger than we thought: Rigorous testing has shown that contrary to what the former manual said it is perfectly safe to use 40 mm of spacers between headset and stem instead of just 10 mm. However, let us use this occasion to remind everyone that no stem should be mounted without carbon-specific assembly paste (e. g. from Tacx, Syntace, FSA, etc.). Also, in no case should you ride with a loose headset. Play in your headset might damage your steerer tube, possible leading it to break.
February 2008
Clavicula DH now available with 83mm-spindle
Our downhill version will soon be available with a spindle designed for 83 mm bottom bracket shells. Due to the large interest we see in the new standard-to-be for downhill frames we are currently preparing a new version for the gravity crowd.

Rear derailleur

In the context of a study the following goals for a new development of a 10 speed rear derailleur were considered:
• Approx. weight: 0.22 lb
• Optimization of the switching accuracy
• Aerodynamic shaping due to “careened“ technology.
A serial production is at present not concretely planned and depends among other things on the possibility of economic production.

Eurobike 2007
THM will be present at the Eurobike tradeshow in Friedrichshafen/ Germany at the booth of the German Carbon Group (A2/205). Come to witness the premiere of Clavicula’s freeride version with triple chainring, a new cremic-hybrid bottom bracket and other interesting tidbits.
A special highlight will be a new development, which will set new standards regarding weight and function – let us surprise you!
Eurobike, the world’s largest cycling tradeshow, runs from 30 August through 2 September. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

New: Socket wrench for Clavicula cartridge
We now offer a socket wrench for mounting of the Clavicula BB cartridge. It fits all standard 1/2“ torque wrenches to help you tighten your bottom bracket just right. Well suited for removal of tight fitting cartridges as well. The socket wrench sells for €35,- and can be ordered through your LBS or directly from us.

Delivery times shortened
We have expanded our production facilities greatly and have thus been able to reduce delivery times for the Clavicula to about 10 weeks; Scapulas currently take about 6 weeks to be delivered.
March 2007
Test proves: Scapula stiffest fork
Europe’s largest cycling mag TOUR tested 41 frame-fork combos in their March 2007 issue. Both the winner Storck and runner-up Cervelo were equipped with carbon fiber forks from THM. Despite its extremely low weight the Scapula proved to be the stiffest 1 1/8” fork by far, both laterally as well as in fore-aft stiffness.

Clavicula shows convincing results
While several carbon fiber parts from Far East recently made the news with recalls, THM has decided to raise the weight limit for their Clavicula carbon fiber crankset from 85 kg to 95 kg (209 lbs instead of 187 lbs). Due to positive results with riders in the 85 kg to 100 kg weight range we have decided to raise the conservative weigh limit accordingly. Only the extremely lightweight double MTB crankset currently remains at a recommended max weight of 85 kg.
November 2006
Clavicula DH passes all tests
The new downhill specific Clavicula DH carbon fiber crankset has passed all testing with flying colors. All pre-production cranksets have survived tests both in our torture chamber as well as on the race course without zero problems despite their extremely low weight. Their reliability scores are already ready for production. After a few minor tweaks we will start regular production in February.
November 2006
Large demand continues
Our super-light cranksets and forks continue to be in high demand. While we are happy about this positive feedback, regrettably this leads to increased delivery times. We are continuously improving productivity, but with our focus on highest quality even in boom times we are hard pressed to meet demand. Expect the following times for delivery: Clavicula MTB – 16 weeks, Clavicula Road – regrettably still 20-24 weeks, Scapula 8-10 weeks.

Price adjustment March 1, 2006
The market for carbon fiber raw materials is heating up. Due to the increasing use of carbon fiber materials in the latest Boeing and Airbus aircraft the necessary raw materials are becoming scarce in the next few years. This leads to dramatic developments of prices for raw materials. Some products have seen a 60% price increase in only three months. Occasionally, day-to-day pricing has replaced long-term contracts.
These developments force us to adjust our prices. Starting March 1, 2006, we will be raising the prices for our carbon fiber products by 7 % to 11 %. Of course, all orders received before March 1 will still be filled at the current prices.

– December 2004 –
Dear customers,
the Clavicula crank system has successfully completed all static load tests. To increase the safety margin even more we had to increase the weight of the whole system slightly to 420 g (0.9 lbs). To us, safety is more important than shaving the last gram! Stiffness ratings are above those of comparable aluminum crank systems. The stiffness-to-weight ratio remains unmatched. We are currently running additional cyclic load tests and road tests.
To complete testing we need a bit more time to make sure that you will be riding the ultimate product right from the start. Therefore, we will slightly delay production to early February of 2005. Due to pre-orders we expect delivery times to be around six to eight weeks.

New crank system: Only 390 g including BB and spindle
The new crank system was presented for the first time at the EUROBIKE in Friedrichshafen/Germany. It consists of an all-carbon crank with the carbon fiber bottom bracket spindle integrated into the right crankarm. The revolutionary design results in a sensationally low weight while giving excellent stiffness. The stiffness-to-weight ratio is a leap ahead of ordinary designs and sets new standards.
